Day 1: Cusco – Socma – Perolniyoc Inca Ruins – Chacachuco Valley
Your day kicks off with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in the heart of Cusco. We embark on a scenic two-hour drive to Soqma, the starting point for this unforgettable adventure. Our dedicated team of muleteers will be ready to greet you, their mules already packed and prepared for the trek. Before we set out, you’ll enjoy a wholesome breakfast, featuring a spread of local and international favorites to fuel you for the day ahead.
The morning hike leads us through winding mountain paths, rich with flora and fauna unique to the Andean highlands. Your first spectacle is the astonishing Perolniyoc waterfall, cascading from a height to crash into a serene pool below. After capturing this magical sight on camera, we ascend to the Perolniyoc Inca ruins. Your expert guide will regale you with stories of Inca history, breathing life into the stone walls and terraces. We then proceed to a scenic lunch spot where you’ll enjoy freshly prepared meals from our trekking chefs, all while soaking in panoramic views of the valley. Post-lunch, a challenging yet rewarding hike takes us to the Kuychiccasa pass. Here, the vistas stretch from the rugged slopes of the Sacred Valley to the snow-capped peaks of the Urubamba range. As the sun sets, we make our descent to the campsite at Chacachuco. Our team will have your tents set up, and a steaming cup of tea or hot chocolate will be waiting for you, followed by a sumptuous dinner crafted by our chefs.

Day 2: Chacachuco – Kuychiccasa Pass – Ancascocha Lake
Rise and shine with a cup of freshly brewed tea or coffee served right at your tent’s flap. Breakfast is a hearty affair, intended to fortify you for the ascent to the Kuychiccasa Pass. Our morning trek is steep but manageable, and you’ll pass by rustic farms that offer glimpses into highland life. Every step provides a new view, framed by the towering Nevadas in the backdrop.
Reaching the summit of the Kuychiccasa Pass is an exhilarating moment. Here, the world opens up before you, offering a 360-degree panorama of the Chancachuco and Sacred Valleys. Take a moment to catch your breath and capture photos before we descend to our lunch spot in the Chancachuco Valley. With full bellies and high spirits, we continue to ascend slightly for a closer look at the magnificent Mt. Veronica, one of the highest peaks in the Urubamba range. The remainder of the day’s trek is a gentle downward slope that leads us to Ancascocha. The campsite here sits in a secluded wooded valley, with the comforting sound of a nearby stream serving as nature’s lullaby. Today is a challenging but rewarding day as we set off toward the Huayanay Pass, the highest point of this trek.
The morning’s hike is filled with natural wonders. Expect to see exotic birds native to the region and perhaps even a condor soaring high above. The switchback trail offers stunning vistas, including the sparkling blue Ancascocha Lake and well-preserved Inca remains. Upon reaching the Huayanay Pass, take a moment to enjoy the unparalleled views of the surrounding glaciers and valleys. Your guide will snap commemorative photos as you celebrate this trekking milestone. The descent to our lunch spot is a comfortable one and situated near the small Inca site of Incaracay, providing more historical wonders to explore.
The afternoon brings a change in landscape as we venture through the highland valley. It’s a 2-hour hike to our next campsite, Paucarcancha. Upon arrival, the team will set up camp, and you’ll have time to explore the nearby Inca site. The trek concludes with a fulfilling lunch at Km 82, a spot renowned as the official beginning of the Classic Inca Trail.
Post-lunch, we’ll drive you to Ollantaytambo, where you’ll catch a scenic train to Aguas Calientes. The train ride itself is an experience, offering a different perspective on the landscape you’ve just hiked through. Rolling hills give way to lush, verdant scenery as you approach Aguas Calientes. The first glimpse of Machu Picchu, with its intricate stone constructions set against a backdrop of emerald mountains, is an awe-inspiring sight.
Your guide will lead you through a 2-hour tour of the site, elaborating on its history, significance, and the genius behind its construction. Following the tour, you’ll have free time to explore on your own.
