Tour Itinerary
Explore our expertly designed itinerary below, crafted to showcase breathtaking views and provide unique adventures every step of the way.
Day 1: From Cusco’s Heart to the Depths of Wayllabamba
The journey of a lifetime begins in the heart of Cusco. Our team will greet you at your hotel lobby at the break of dawn, 5:00 am. As you settle into our private transportation, watch the landscape shift from the enchanting streets of Cusco to the breathtaking terrains of Chinchero and Ollantaytambo, leading you to Km 82, Piscacucho.
By 9:00 am, with the sun casting its golden hue on the Urubamba River, you’ll set foot on the legendary Inca Trail. Midday brings an insightful halt at Llactapata, a treasure trove of Inca history waiting to be unraveled. Post a rejuvenating lunch at the scenic Tarayoc spot, the trail leads you to the Huayllabamba campsite by evening. Here, at the last inhabited frontier of the trail, interact with local farmers, witness traditional farming methods, and as nightfall approaches, join our dedicated porters for an interactive session followed by a sumptuous dinner.
Accommodation: Camping
Meals: Lunch, Tea, and Dinner
Hiking: Approx. 7 hours, 11 km
Day 2: Traversing the Peaks and Valleys to Pacaymayo
As dawn paints the sky in hues of oranges and blues, our diligent porters will serve you a revitalizing cup of coca tea at 5:00 am. Today promises both challenges and unparalleled views. Starting at 6:30 am, the trail beckons you towards the highest pass – the Dead Woman’s Pass, elevated at 4215 meters. The initial segment, enveloped by a highland forest, is a steady uphill, culminating at Llulluchapampa. A brief respite here prepares you for the next ascent, an hour and a half of winding paths leading to the pass’s pinnacle by noon.
The descent from here is equally thrilling, as the trail snakes down to the verdant Pacaymayo Valley. By 2:00 pm, as you settle at our campsite, the afternoon sprawls ahead, offering you leisure time. Whether you wish to rejuvenate with a cold shower, or simply lose yourself in the valley’s beauty, the choice is yours. Evening tea sessions and a delectable dinner await as stars twinkle above.
Accommodation: Camping
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Tea, and Dinner
Hiking: Approx. 8 hours, 12 km
Day 3: The Mystical Journey from Pacaymayo to Wiñaywayna
Daybreak at 5:30 am marks the onset of what many deem the most enchanting segment of the Inca Trail. As the morning progresses, you’ll traverse the second pass of the trek, with occasional stops at Inca relics like Runcu Raccay. Witness nature’s grandeur as waterfalls cascade and the Vilcabamba mountain range stands tall. The trail then leads to the secluded Inca village of Sayacmarca, offering both history and panoramic vistas.
Post a hearty lunch at Chaquicocha, the “Inca flat” paths beckon, introducing you to the cloud forest’s mystique. The day’s trek is a tapestry of varying terrains, from the peaks of Phuyupatamarca to the lushness of Wiñay Wayna, your campsite for the night. As you settle in by 4:00 pm, realize that this site, a stone’s throw away from Machu Picchu, is a precursor to the grand finale.
Accommodation: Camping
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Tea, and Dinner
Hiking: Approx. 10 hours, 15 km
Day 4: The Grand Finale – Machu Picchu Awaits
The final day begins even before the sun graces the horizon. At 4:00 am, with a mix of excitement and anticipation, you’ll line up at the checkpoint. The walk to the Sun Gate commences at 5:30 am, and as you tread the path, the Urubamba river gleams below, and the mountains stand as silent spectators. By 6:30 am, the Sun Gate reveals the first glimpses of Machu Picchu, bathed in the soft morning light.
At 8:00 am, the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu stands before you. Post a brief pause at the entrance, our guides will take you on a two-hour exploration of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Post the guided tour, wander through the ruins at your pace, absorbing its magic. As midday approaches, you’ll have free time to explore Aguas Calientes or relax before your journey back. The return commences with a 2:55 pm train to Ollantaytambo. As the landscapes whizz by, reminisce about the journey, and by 6:30 pm, find yourself back in the comforts of your Cusco hotel, memories richer.
