Tour Itinerary
Explore our expertly designed itinerary below, crafted to showcase breathtaking views and provide unique adventures every step of the way.
Day 1: From Cusco to Pucamarca Village via Tambomachay
Your adventure commences with a short 25-minute drive from your hotel, bringing you to the trail’s starting point at Tambomachay. Here, the cornerstone of our expedition team eagerly awaits: our culinary genius—the chef, and the skilled horsemen who oversee our pack animals.
Embarking on the initial hike, which spans roughly an hour and a half uphill, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Cusco and its majestic valleys, interspersed with iconic landmarks like Sacsayhuaman and Puca Pucara. The pathway then reveals the pristine Queullacocha Lake—a high-altitude gem where we’ll take a pause for lunch.
Post-lunch, a challenging 45-minute ascent takes us to the day’s zenith, unveiling a horizon dotted with shimmering lagoons and commanding snow-capped peaks. The subsequent 3-hour trek, a blend of uphill and downhill paths, culminates in the serene village of Pucamarca. As the evening shades draw in, relish a delectable meal and surrender to a tranquil night’s sleep, nestled amidst the Peruvian Andes.
Accommodation: Camping
Meals: Lunch, Tea, and Dinner
Hiking: Approx. 6-7 hours, 14 km
Day 2: Pucamarca Village’s Descent to the Enigma of Huchuy Qosqo, and Onward to Aguas Calientes
As the first light of dawn filters into the village, the aroma of coca tea stirs the camp, signaling the start of a day filled with exploration. After a hearty breakfast, our trail beckons, leading us through the heart of Huchuy Qosqo.
The morning’s journey, approximately 2 hours of diverse terrains, offers glimpses of the Sacred Valley’s expansive beauty and the diligent local populace tending to their llamas. As we approach the ancient remnants of the Inca Trail near Pucamarca, the path unfolds, revealing the stunning canyon of Huchuy Qosqo, brimming with lush vegetation and the distant echoes of hummingbirds.
Stepping through an ancient adobe Inca gateway, the grandeur of Huchuy Qosqo unfurls before you. This hidden gem of the Incas, perched majestically above the Sacred Valley, whispers tales of sacred temples, age-old plazas, and intricate water channels.
After a journey through time, a delightful lunch awaits, curated by our chef. The afternoon sees a 2-hour descent to Lamay, followed by a drive to the historical heart of Ollantaytambo. If time permits, the town’s ancient stone pathways beckon for exploration. As dusk sets in, a train journey to Aguas Calientes offers a moment of respite, with the evening concluding in the comfort of a local hotel.
Accommodation: Hotel
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Hiking: Approx. 6 hours, 8 km
Day 3: From Aguas Calientes to the Majestic Machu Picchu, and the Return to Cusco
The final day promises a spectacle like no other. An early morning ascent, aboard one of the first buses, winds through the path to the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu. If timed perfectly, the golden rays of sunrise paint a surreal picture over the iconic citadel.
With the ancient city bathed in the morning glow, a comprehensive 2-3 hour guided tour delves deep into the mysteries of this architectural marvel. Marvel at the ingenious design, the balance of nature and construction, and the tales of a civilization long past.
For those with an adventurous spirit, an optional trek to either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain awaits (advance booking required). Post exploration, the journey back to Aguas Calientes offers a moment for reflection and a meal (not included). The afternoon sees you aboard a train back to Ollantaytambo, with our transport ready to whisk you back to the comforts of your hotel in Cusco by evening.
