Explore our expertly designed itinerary below, crafted to showcase breathtaking views and provide unique adventures every step of the way.
Day 1: Cusco to Marampata – An Early Start to a Scenic Trek
Your trek to Choquequirao starts with an early morning journey from the ancient city of Cusco. As dawn breaks, you’ll find yourself traveling towards Capuliyoc, where the Andes begin to unveil their grandeur. This four-hour drive is not just a journey through distance, but also a passage through diverse ecological zones, offering glimpses of Peru’s stunning landscapes.
Upon reaching Capuliyoc, a breakfast at your own expense allows for a moment of relaxation and anticipation. Here, at the edge of the Apurímac canyon, the trek truly begins. The path to Chiquisca is a dramatic descent, where each zigzag offers a new view of the sprawling valley and distant snow-capped peaks. Lunch in Chiquisca provides a moment to rest and enjoy local flavors.
The descent continues to the bridge at Playa Rosalina, the lowest and perhaps the most challenging point of the day. The subsequent ascent to Santa Rosa tests your endurance, only to be followed by a more gradual climb to Marampata. As the evening approaches, the campsite at Marampata, perched at 2,900 meters, becomes a haven of tranquility, offering a spectacular end to an adventurous day.

The second day greets you with the peaceful ambiance of Marampata and the promise of discovery. After breakfast, you embark on a two-hour trek to the remarkable Choquequirao. This journey is a visual feast, with each step revealing the ancient Inca pathways, terraced fields, and the vibrant flora of the region.
Arriving at Choquequirao, a site less traversed but no less majestic than Machu Picchu, you step into a world of Incan mystery. Here, the ruins speak volumes of an empire’s history, spirituality, and architectural ingenuity. You’ll explore its expansive plazas, sacred temples, and intricate terraces, while the guide shares tales of the past. A picnic lunch amidst these ruins allows you to soak in the site’s serene energy.
In the afternoon, delve deeper into the site’s hidden corners, perhaps catching sight of the elusive Andean condor. The walk back to Marampata under the setting sun is reflective, bringing a sense of connection to the ancient Inca civilization. A hearty dinner awaits at the camp, celebrating a day full of exploration and awe.

The path back to the Rosalina Beach Bridge is a reverse journey through the stunning landscapes you’ve become familiar with, offering a new perspective in the morning light.
The ascent to Chiquisca is your final challenge, a testament to the journey you’ve undertaken. Once at Capuliyoc, a celebratory lunch marks the end of your trekking experience.
