Cusco – Pisac – Urubamba – Ollantaytambo – Chinchero – Cusco
Your journey into the heart of Incan history begins promptly at 8:00 AM with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. As we travel through the majestic mountains, you’ll catch a glimpse of the iconic Saqsaywaman site. This ancient fortress with its large stone walls is just a teaser of the wonders that await in the Sacred Valley.
Our first major stop is the ruins of Pisac. Here, the echoes of the past resonate through its unique stone artworks and vast agricultural terraces, standing as testaments to the ingenuity and artistry of the Inca civilization. The stories and insights you gain will further enrich your understanding of the Inca culture.
But the experience in Pisac isn’t just about its ancient ruins. After our exploration, we’ll make our way to the town’s bustling craft market. This is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, perhaps picking up a few souvenirs or handmade crafts that catch your eye.
As midday approaches, we’ll continue our journey to Urubamba. Here, for those on the standard package, we’ll pause for a 45-minute lunch break (lunch not included). For guests on the deluxe package, you’ll be treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch, offering a variety of local and international delicacies.
With renewed energy, a short 30-minute drive will take us to the historic town of Ollantaytambo. Nestled amidst sacred mountains, this town is home to some of the most important Inca constructions. During our visit, you’ll be captivated by the vast ruins and the rock formations representing the Inca god, Wiracocha. The stories behind these structures provide a fascinating glimpse into the spiritual and architectural world of the Incas.
After Ollantaytambo, we’ll venture to Chinchero. Known for its well-preserved Incan walls and colonial-style churches, Chinchero offers a blend of Incan and Spanish colonial histories. You’ll also witness the vibrant traditional markets where local artisans sell their handcrafted goods, a beautiful blend of past and present.
As the sun begins to set, we’ll embark on our return journey to Cusco. You can reflect on the day’s adventures and the rich tapestry of Incan history you’ve just experienced. By 6-7 PM, we’ll have you back at your hotel, bringing an end to a day filled with discovery and wonder.
